Thanks for getting the ball rolling @lagru!

fyi I sadly won’t be able to make it to the conference, but it looks like you will have a critical mass of folks to help out, which I’m happy about. And I’m of course happy to help out with the repo and lesson plan from here as much as I can!

I’m still sad that you can’t make it :smiling_face_with_tear: but thanks for offering a pair of eyes if needed.

@lagru Could you share the final list of presenters, so everyone on the thread knows whether they’re on the hook or not?

Currently, Erick Ratamero, @agdev, Jordão Bragantini and me are officially listed as speakers. To my knowledge there’s still some uncertainty if Erick and Biola will be able to attend. You, @stefanv, are still listed in the notes section as a backup.

Like @jni indicated earlier, getting an appointment is a challenge. However, I am optimistic I will get an appointment date by the end of May. I have submitted my application and paid all the necessary fees. :crossed_fingers:

Hi folks,

I’m sadly not attending SciPy in the end, but I’m curious about how the tutorial prep is going? And @agdev did you get your visa???

On the napari side we are gearing up to release 0.5.0. We had intended for it to happen last week but couldn’t — you know how releases go. So now I’m thinking that we’ll wait until after the tutorial. But how critical that is depends on your environment definitions, what’s in the tutorial, etc. And I think we would still like to release 0.5.0 in time for the tools update.

Hi @jni, sadly I didn’t I get my visa. However, I am pleased Erick Ratamero is able to attend and is helping out with the tutorial.
I have been following the preparation here.

Hey @jni, the napari dependency is pinned to 0.4.19.post1 in our environment.yml but the napari-animation one isn’t pinned (same in our requirements.txt). Not sure whether this means it’s safe to release. Anyway, it’s very kind of you to check-in with the release just around the tutorial!

I’m so sorry to hear this. Borders suck.

I see you’ve got Peter helping out so you’re in good hands re dependencies. napari-animation should work with both napari versions so you’re golden!

Current plan is to release 0.5.0 ~immediately after the tutorial, so you should be safe.
