Hi all,
For a while, we had a fortnightly community manager who would manage the “service desk”: label / comment on incoming issues, welcome newcomers, and summarize work done in a lightweight report to the community:

This is our 2022's calendar of community management.
Here we set up a rotatin… g duty to take a first look at all contributions (PRs and issues) from the community, label them and ping relevant reviewers.
Scripts for generating the reports are available [in this repository](https://github.com/scikit-image/boilerplate-utils).
Last year's calendar of community management is given at #5604.

We’ve dropped the ball on that, but I thought it was a valuable exercise. How would you feel about restarting it?
It may also be a nice way to engage developers that are not yet part of the core team, who want ways to be more closely involved.

Totally in favor of this. I volunteer myself for the calendar week 31 (Jul 29 - Aug 4).
Thanks @lagru , much appreciated! And then let’s tag-team from there onward.
